Things to Do

We’re so excited to celebrate with you in the city where we fell in love!
We want your whole trip to be unforgettable.
No matter how long you are here, Austin has something for everyone:
Live music, tacos, nature, and a whole lot of local charm.
Below are some of our favorite things to do in Austin!

Outdoor Adventures

With nearly 300 days of sunshine and scenic spots full of lakes, trails, and natural swimming holes, Austin invites guests to hike, paddleboard, swim, and soak in the outdoors.

• Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail: Rent a kayak or paddleboard and take in the laid back Austin water. If you prefer staying on the shore, rent a bike or stroll along the scenic 10-mile trail with fantastic skyline views. For paddleboard/kayak rentals, visit Texas Rowing Center. For bike rentals, download the CapMetro Bikeshare app.

• Auditorium Shores: Enjoy a picnic where we had our first date and competed in an exciting triathlon together.

• Barton Springs Pool: Lounge in the sun and take a dip in this spring-fed 68°, three acre legendary pool.

• Mount Bonnell: Climb a short staircase for one of the best views in the city, where you can capture a beautiful sunset.

• Congress Avenue Bridge Bats: At dusk, watch 1.5 million bats take flight—best viewed from the bridge or a kayak below. A very unique, “only in Austin” experience!

Ski Shores: A great casual setting to play pickleball, sip a cocktail, and enjoy lakeside bites right on the docks of Lake Austin.

Music & Culture

Whether you’re into history, honky tonks, or rooftop vibes, Austin has it all!

• The University of Texas at Austin: Jack’s alma mater! Stroll through the Forty Acres and soak in the Longhorn pride—historic buildings, bold campus art, and that unmistakable burnt orange spirit, all nestled in the heart of Austin.

• South Congress Avenue: This street offers a full Austin shopping experience. You might even find yourself a pair of boots and a cowboy hat at Tecovas, Allens Boots and Maufrais.
